Commercial Diplomacy Officer - Jakarta
(1 year fixed-term contract)
The British Embassy in Jakarta is part of a world-wide network of 230 Diplomatic Posts, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. Indonesia and the United Kingdom have a strong relationship, and we work closely together to promote economic prosperity and international security. The Commercial Diplomacy Officer will contribute to the delivery of the UK’s trade and multilateral economic policy objectives and will be part of a new Prosperity Team.
Main duties
Public diplomacy activities on the UK economy and commercial opportunities in support of UK Trade International colleagues

The Commercial Diplomacy Officer will contribute to the delivery of the UK’s trade and multilateral economic policy objectives and will be part of a new Prosperity Team.
Main duties
Public diplomacy activities on the UK economy and commercial opportunities in support of UK Trade International colleagues
- Disseminating relevant publications on the UK economy and UK commercial features to key contacts and coordinate public events related to the UK Prosperity agenda
- Organising high level visits programmes and liaising with Prosperity fund partners on key events
Lobbying and reporting on trade policy and market access issues in support of Prosperity Team leader and UKTI
- Assisting in lobbying of Indonesian government ministries and agencies and reporting on Indonesian market access issues
- Contribute to reports on Indonesian multilateral positions (Doha, ASEAN, APEC, Trans Pacific Partnership)
Maintaining contacts with government ministries and agencies, business community and relevant research organisations
- Liaising with the EU Delegation and relevant local partners as well as with other sections of the Embassy (UKTI, MCS, UKCCU, Political Team, British Council)
- Occasionally interpreting for UK-based colleagues if a local interlocutor does not speak English
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Business
- Experience in a similar role in another Embassy or international organisation
- Some experience of public relations work is desirable
- Attention to detail with a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard
- Flexibility, resilience under pressure and decisiveness
- Ability to work with people of different levels and backgrounds
- Strong written and oral communication in Indonesian and English
- Proficient in MS Office applications
Prosperity Team Research Assistant - Jakarta

In order to strengthen our engagement in Indonesia, we are looking to recruit a Prosperity Team Research Assistant who will be a member of the Embassy’s new Prosperity Team and will assist the team in delivering the UK’s prosperity objectives on (trade, economic multilateral, and climate change policy)
Main duties

- Undertake research for the Prosperity Team
- Maintenance of the statistical and literature databases, and the compilation of economic briefing papers
- Provide administrative support in organising events and meetings and travel arrangements
- Maintenance of contacts database
- Filing and monitoring of the team’s budget
- Provide support in other activities within the team, as required
Requirements:
- Preferably 3 to 4 years’ experience in project management
- An associate degree (D3) in administration, business or economy
- Preferably have experience of a similar role in another Embassy or international organisations
- Attention to detail with a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard
- Flexibility, resilience under pressure and decisiveness
- Ability to work with people of different levels and backgrounds
- Strong written and oral communication in Indonesian and English
- Be computer literate and familiar with MS Office
